Air Suspensions has been around for a long time (somewhere around 1954) when "CITROEN" first used it.  Back then it left a bit to be desired as they were powered by either an electric or engine ran compressor, which stored pressure for the suspension in an on-board tank, controlled by electro magnetic valves to raise, lower or maintain desired height.

The system used pressure from an automatic system that maintained the ride height and to make adjustments on the fly. This system was okay for a nice comfortable ride but was not a fast enough air suspension system for an aggressive and sporty car. This system was quiet a crowd pleaser though. When the CITROEN pulled up and the driver shut the engine off,  the car would settle to the lower position, "magically" the air suspension would make the car rise from the ground when the driver returned. This air suspension was the beginning of air suspension as we know today.

Air system can be as simple as installing a set of air shocks to a completely custom system on a "Low Rider". Air suspension has come a long way since the air suspension of the  "50s" and they make full air suspension kits for a lot of the vehicles today. If you want an air suspension system, any average "Joe" with any knowledge of fabrication skills can install air suspension on just about anything you want to have air suspension. I once saw an air suspension kit on a little red pull wagon as a novelty. The air suspension actually worked.

Some of the benefits to Air Suspension include a better smoother ride so you can adjust your air suspension height to fit your driving style and or terrain needs. Less noise transfer to the cabin will give you a quieter ride. If you are a four wheeler, you can set your air suspension up to run on the street with a lower more stable stance and as you hit the dirt, raise the suspension up for better tire and ground clearance. You can also adjust the air in your air suspension to handle heavy loads to maintain your optimum ride height.

Over all, whether you have a custom low rider or a big jacked up truck, there is an air suspension system for you at F150Mania along with other nice goodies for your F150 and excellent customer service. Thanks DEAN
